Last month, I introduced a new Patreon tier and promised to share a special tanda just for those members each month. For October 2025, I put together a tanda featuring Juan D’Arienzo’s early instrumental tangos. These tracks come from Crackling Tunes, who do an amazing job restoring old recordings. But just a quick reminder—I never share actual audio files myself. If you want to hear these tracks, you’ll need to catch one of my milonga sets or join Crackling Tunes directly.
Why D’Arienzo? Let’s be honest—D’Arienzo is a classic for a reason. I love all his work, but for me, his recordings up to 1945 are something special. They have an energy that just lights up the dance floor. Choosing a D’Arienzo tanda is kind of a double-edged sword. On one hand, almost everything he recorded in those early years is perfect for both listening and dancing. On the other, it’s tough to narrow it down and still capture that classic D’Arienzo vibe. I dug through a lot of his early tracks before settling on this set. For me, building a tanda is a bit like putting together a puzzle. You want each piece to fit, but also to stand out. And with D’Arienzo, the pieces are always full of life.
