2026-01 Donato Racciatti tango tanda with Nina Miranda

The calendar doesn’t say 2026 yet, but in terms of week numbers we’ve already entered the first week of the new year. If that caused a bit of confusion, my apologies.

Although tango is closely associated with Argentina, its roots run just as deep in Uruguay. That’s why this week I’m bringing you a tanda built around tangos recorded in the early 1950s by a Uruguayan orchestra leader. Our set features Donato Racciatti, with vocals by Nina Miranda.

Racciatti is widely known for his upbeat, high-energy tangos—something you’ll also notice in this tanda. His instrumentals are especially fast. For this week, however, we dial the speed down just a touch—not much, but enough to take us back to the milonga atmosphere of the 1950s.
