We have already reached the tenth week of the year. While the weather in the Northern Hemisphere is still cool, I prepared this tanda from a less familiar period of Edgardo Donato’s career. In this tango tanda, Donato is joined on vocals by Carlos Almada.
Edgardo Donato (1897–1963) was one of the most popular and distinctive orchestra leaders of the early Golden Age. A prolific composer, violinist, and bandleader, he is best known for his rhythmic, joyful style and for composing the world-famous tango A media luz. Among his most well-known works are A media luz, Julián, Muchacho, El huracán, T.B.C., Se va la vida, Mi serenata, and El acomodo.
