Here we are with the Week 4 tanda of 2026. This week, building on the research I did for the January special tanda, I put together an emotional tango tanda featuring Carlos Di Sarli with the voice of Roberto Rufino. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed preparing it.
Di Sarli and Rufino recorded a total of 45 tracks together: 4 valses, 8 milongas or milonga-candombe pieces, and 33 tangos. With only one exception (Milonga del sentimiento), every one of these recordings can comfortably fit into a danceable tanda, each offering its own depth and beauty. That’s why creating a tango tanda from those 33 tangos is both very easy—and almost impossible if your goal is to make something truly unique. For that reason, I also checked whether other DJs had already used this exact sequence.
If we leave aside the more upbeat tangos recorded in 1939–1940, the Di Sarli–Rufino tangos mostly sit between 58 and 63 bpm, making them very consistent and reliable in terms of danceability.
